It seems that in every generation there are older people who say "It was different in my day." These people feel nostalgic about their past, remembering it as a golden age when everything was simpler and more heroic. In fact some people end up living mainly in memories of a past that no longer exists and may never have been as they remember it.
Do you believe that the time of heroes is long last? who are today's heroes, or are there none worthy of the label? What opportunities do you see for heroism today?

Heroes hmmm what does that mean to people. Can it be a guy in tights or perhaps a guy with a cape no no no ….. it’s a guy with a mask. Those are all the things that come to our mind when we hear the word “HEROES”. Yes a hero is someone who helps people out solves their problem an rescue people when they are in trouble too.
ReplyDeleteLike any other generation always say the same thing which is “it was different in my time” and I cant argue with that their time was completely different. For example our grandparents generation was difficult because all they did was work and work, and now our parents generation was when technology was picking up then we have our generation who is completely nowhere to be found with technology. Another example of generations being different is older generations had less rules to follow now our generation is very strict.
Now in our generation I don’t think heroes exist at all the reason why I say they don’t exist is because it takes one person to know what they want to fight for or believe in. Like for example Tupac is a hero to most people because he spoke his mind through poetry and songs and stood up for what he believed in
These older people who say it was different in my day were from differeent generations having their own types of heroes and remembering who they were by a simple way.But it's different when you think about it because the past generation before you were thinking way differently towards the stuff thats in your generation thats why they would see it in a different perspective. But it is true that most people end up living in memories of a past that no longer exists to them but a one point in life it did. They try to remember these heroes or good memories to look throught their life and what they have seen happen. Heroes are those who have courage to do something with a risk or someone who is admired by his brave deeds he has done and they don't come out of nowhere they are known by something good not evil so if so then they will last in the history of those brave heroes. Todays heroes are those who protect and serve our country as in soldiers, police man, firefighters, paramedics and also sport figures , celebrities, and rock stars but they are label but i would say worthy because of the things they do day to day risking their lifes and protecting their country and also others who are being looked up too as a role model or insperational heroe. The opportunities that hereos today have are that they get recognized and makes them famous where they are going to be knownn for doing this brave situation but also they have many opportunities to be recognized for the remarkable things they have done in their lifetime and at one point someone will look of to them as a heroe.
ReplyDeleteAlthough some people may argue that the idea of "heroism" is long gone, I personally disagree because heroism can be seen and interpreted differently amongst individuals. While one individual might depict a hero as a superhuman who has saved the entire city from a 100ft. monster, another might see a hero as a person who speaks out about social inequality to the public and wants to fight for peace. I believe that we encounter acts of "heroism" each day; it all depends on the eyes that witness them.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons why many have different views on heroism is because of the generation they are a part of. For example, during the times of World War I and II, it is reasonable to say that the heroes during those years were the valient soldiers who defended our country. Although we still see our brave soldiers as heroes today, we have widened our perspective of heroism. Without a doubt, as modern technology advanced throughout generations, the scientists that created these inventions could also be labeled as heroes. It is also possible that religion and other cultural beliefs influence the perception of heroes, for example, Christians who worship Lord Jesus, their savior.
In my point of view, our heroes today are those who do great deeds and make a positive difference in the world. Whether it be a public officer or a high school student who recently donated blood to sickle cell patients, I see both as heroes today because of their achievements and their desire to help others.
The opportunities I see for heroism today include the simple act of helping others, fighting for current social issues, and becoming a positive influence to the younger generations. Anyone can make a difference and do great deeds as long as they are passionate about the cause. Anyone can be a hero and you do not need the label from our society to prove it.
When I was a little boy when I heard heroes I automatically though of Batman, Superman, Iron-man,and the Hulk, but as I grew older these characters are made belief and don't exists. True heroes are doctors, firefighter, lawyers, parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters. Heroes accomplish the impossible and they have done it with hard work and sacrifices. For example: Sonia Sotomayor she is a hero to every Latino, because she was the first Latin american woman to be in the Supreme Court. She is the perfect example for being a hero, she work hard and she had a lot of initiative to become the person that she wanted to be today. She inspired many Latinos to work hard and she has proven that anything can be possible if you put your mind into the hard work you can achieve many things in life to be a lawyer, firefighter, doctor, and or the next president. The heroism of today is that many people have changed during their time living in this world and they have made a lot of heroic things ex: helping the elderly, saving a persons like when they're chocking, saving them form drowning or just save them from a bad situation. You also realize that your also a hero, you have made a change in a persons life and how encourage them to have a better life that's a real hero hearing your problems and conflicts that you may have in school.

ReplyDeleteWhen I think of heroes, I think of Spider Man saving people from danger, but that is only on movies. Here in this world, in this society, I don't think there are any heroes. I haven't heard of a Spider Man or a Super Man that sacrifices its life to save someone elses life. Well maybe a firefighter can be consider a heroe, they do risk their lives to save other lives but that is their job, they trained for that. Heroes make a peaceful living for others, so far I haven't found peace in this world. The word heroe has a lot of definitions; a heroe can be Super Man, Martin Luther King Jr., or even my own parents. It all depends on the way you see that person. Heroes are inspiration for others, and an example to be followed, they are also admired, they show leadership, and it's never a follower. People now don't stand up for justice or what they believe in, unless they have someone else by their side. Only a brave person can be called a Heroe.

ReplyDeleteAll the heroes are dead. And this is a good thing. It's better if the people we look up to are deceased, because if they are, there's no way our view of them changes. Someone living could damage their reputation to the point where they are villanized, not heroically recalled. For example, Tiger Woods. While not exactly a former hero, he was looked up upon as one of the best athletes in the world. But because he's a celebrity, and we had no idea what his private life was like, it was false to look up to him. As the events of Thanksgiving 2010 surfaced and the "true Tiger" was revealed, he proved yet again why all heroes, especially athletes, are dead.
ReplyDeleteThat's not to say that heroes don't exist. They do, but they are mere myths, legends of what had occurred long ago, and they exist to remind of a time that has passed. This is because when one dies, they are usually honored for their live, not criticized for it. John Lennon comes to mind. We remember him as a great musician, political activist, and writer of "Imagine". Quite frankly, (and I say this as a fan of his works), he was also an avid drug user, nearly deported once, who claimed himself as a walrus. But these facts are obscured when his name is mentioned, and this is because he is thought of as a hero to some.
In conclusion, if you idolize a living person, you better hope that they don't mess up.
Most people might view heroes as those who save others from danger. But not all the time it has to do with keeping them from getting hurt. For example doctors help us in our health and not many recognize that. Which these shows how they want us to get better by retaining us from the awful diseases. However you should consider that's their job and maybe they are just doing it for the money. Like how I've been saying above our heroes are those that help others when they are in a risk of danger or trouble. Doctors, police officers, firefighters, and even our parents. Not everyone might think our parents could be heroes but they are the ones trying to keep us in the right path and want the best for us. Those that support the community and are trying to do a good change. The opportunities I see towards heroism today are the ones who want positive things and are willing to do anything, risking their lives.
ReplyDeleteAsk ourselves what a hero is and we’ll each come up with a different answer; all wanting to be right yet does this infamous, heroic archetype even exist anymore in modern day society? A hero is commonly defined as a person with distinguishable courage or ability who may be admired for brave deeds or noble qualities. For most, it doesn’t take a whole lot to be a hero in the modern era; being a good father or mother to a child could be all a person needs to do in order to become a hero in someone’s eyes. Today’s hero is created just as much out of necessity as feat or fear. People need heroes to give hope i.e. Barack Obama’s presidency was influential for so many to go out and make a ‘change’ while Tupac Shakur’s lyrics still inspire prodigious amounts of people to this day. Whether or not someone is “worthy” of the title ‘hero’ or the label ‘heroine’ solely depends on their impact and how they are viewed in the eyes of whomever it is they are receiving the label from. The main difference seen in the role of a hero over a period of time is simple. In ancient times, men were rewarded for courage on the battlefield or long voyages, while today’s hero can be an every day man or woman. In my case, it goes to my sister hands down; the only real I see. She’s fearless, caring, loving, helpful, and focused which are all the characteristics of a hero in Uneek’s eyes. Today’s voluntary acts are amongst us everywhere; you simply have to seek and display righteous virtues. The time of heroes never fades. To be a hero, what you need mostly is opportunity and once you’ve grasped that, who knows what’s bond to take bait.
ReplyDelete- Uneek J.
The perception of heroes changes throughout generations. Just like fashion, music, and technology. Yet, all of these categories still remain in peoples hearts and memories. Heroes are not seen as they're shown in movies or cartoons, but as role models and leaders. But then, we may not all have the same heroes.
ReplyDeleteLike I've said before, "heroes" change through time. For example, my mother's hero may not be mines. Heroes are labeled differently according to people's different perspectives and life situations.
One recent "hero" in the world today for many people, including myself, is President Barack Obama. Again, only a hero for certain people, knowing there's others who don't approve of him for whatever reason. Obama did not only make history in being the first colored president in the United States, but was also a huge role model for people who feel uncertain about their future possibilities due to the color of their skin. He will always be looked up to, and labeled as a hero.
A hero can be anyone. It can be a politic, musician, athlete, or even a close friend. Doesn't always have to be that built man with a cape.
The time of heroes is constaltly around us. people always seem to want to help others in a time of need if the risk and consequences are low enough, sometimes even if it is putting themselves in the line of danger. i dont think we have any heroes or should have heroes in our society because heroism leads to idolizing, instead of calling people heroes they should just be recognized as great people. Great people consist of how people should act in a society for the greater good of the people. SO id have to say there are none worthy of the title "hero" just a great person, and if they really are a great person they wont care about being idolized as a "hero". The ideas i have for heroism are if everyone were to become "great people".If we all became "great people" or "heroes" in this way there would leave no room for idolization of others causing the "great person" to have themself as their own influence instead of idolizing a "hero". Im not saying its a horriable thing to look up to somebody or idolize, but i believe that if everyone were to become a "great person" and have to create their own person without ignorant or superficial idolization in their lives we could all become "heroes" in theory.
ReplyDeleteAn epic hero is an imperative figure from a history or legend, usually favored by diverse idols. Most are affiliated with mortal figures in popular interpretations. The epic hero illustrates traits, performs deeds, and demonstrates certain significance that is valued by the society from which the epic creates. They have no superpowers, but they're smart, brave, and have fear; nevertheless they overcome them to protect their friends, families, and even countries.
ReplyDeleteHeroes will continuously be conquerors because not only did they achieve and execute a beautiful conception, but they influentially lived on what they said, did, or yet thought. Depending on people character, they may think otherwise, but why wouldn’t the time of ideals be everlasting? Tupac Shakur, a political activist, an accomplished poet, and/or a “gangbanger” wholeheartedly swayed young teens, and adults to always be on their toes regarding humanity complications. He wrote numerous songs to empower people and lift their minds out of self-destructive behavior giving them pride and hope for a better day. He also rapped about social injustice, poverty, and police brutality. That’s still going on today.
Heroism in modern day can be possible; however, thus far, I haven’t seen anything that made my eyes open. Not anyone, but someone with pretty fixed morals could change that; well, depending on what heroism truly means to them. Time changes everything, and anything, excluding antiquity.
As children many of us saw the super strong and super powered characters that saved mankind as the heroes. As we get older, our prospective of what a hero truly is begins to distinctly vary. Heroes have no timeline. Although many believe that the time for heroism is long gone, I believe that anyone at anytime has the opportunity to be a hero. The meaning of what a hero is differs among many people, which is why our world today is filled with several heroes. Some grand, some unknown, yet they are all categorized under the term “hero”.
ReplyDeleteA child’s father who serves in the military may be seen as his hero. A little girl’s mother who won a fight against breast cancer may be her hero. Who is to say that a hero is only someone that is popularly known for doing something revolutionary? In my eyes, a hero is someone who stands up for what he or she believes in and truly fights to make a change in the world, even if that change is minimal; someone who continues to fight, no matter how hard it may be, in order to reach a dream or goal. Our world is filled with heroes, from firefighters to single mothers to social activists to entrepreneurs.
In our modern world, you could be seen as a hero by doing something no one else has ever done, by doing a good deed, or showing your strong will. Although these aren’t the heroes that fought against evil and saved the world, times have changed and with it so did the concept of the word “hero”. Martin Luther King fought for the equal rights of African Americans and Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon, yet both are considered heroes. Two completely unrelated actions can make two men a hero, which explains how the world is packed with many others.
Society has no right to say who is and who isn’t considered a hero. A hero is someone who in your own eyes you consider as a great human being. The concept of heroes started off as very narrow in the past, today it has developed more complex and who knows, in the future maybe everyone will be considered a hero. The meaning of the word moves with the context of its time.
Adults from past generations have claimed that this generation has no hero. When they were kids they were growing up in the civil rights movement, World War 2, or the Vietnam War. But I disagree because the characteristics of a hero changes like the season. During the first fifty years of the twentieth century there were war heroes who fought in Europe, Asia, and Africa. During the 60s and 70s there were civil rights leaders who fought for freedom and equality. In the 80s and 90s there were sports heroes from a wide majority of players from football to hockey.
ReplyDeleteKids in this generation have many people to look up too. There are socially conscious music artist who inspire people about events that elude us with the current distractions that are in todays society. There are athletes who are one of the best sports player in the team, people cheer and praise them because they could relate them. There are war veterans coming from the Iraq war that sacrifice their lives for our safety. This generation just has more diversity when it comes to heroes because people are more connected with each other.
Heroism may be viewed in different ways depending our generations. When you ask a child “who is your hero” they are going to respond with a “superman or batman etc” as for our older generation they will say someone’s name who have made a difference in their life’s or who has fought in war or even someone who has helped them like a community fire , police department. As for us a hero is someone who has made a different in our lives or someone we admire for example Steve jobs for making Apple products with the one of the highest technology in the world. Without him we wouldn’t have I phone or iTunes iPod’s etc. Hero is someone who you admire because of their achievement they have made or the difference they have made and it for their achievement you may look up to the person. Today’s hero’s are those who help someone from being injured or someone who has helped you get somewhere you wouldn’t of been able to get by yourself such as a sibling or simply someone who has spoken out to society in making a change. The opportunities I see for heroism today is helping out others when they are in need, you can also do a heroism act by being a good influence. Now in days anyone can be a hero by their good deed, just because the person is not known like the old time doesn’t mean they are not a hero !
ReplyDeleteDifferent people go through different events in odd times. As we advance into the future so does technology and people. Do you think the tree in a good atmosphere would be different if it would have grown in a bad affected atmosphere? Yes. Civilization has been better and has changed. Wars were fought in the past for our freedom. Riots and protests were created. Democracy has changed. Those people that changed society were changing the unmoral laws and those were the heroes of the past and still today. It was more simple back then because it's difficult now. The truth is life was never simple it was just always different. It was always changing. They'll have to get used to change because that's what it will always be. There's no such thing as no more heroes. As long as there's one good soul left in the world, a hero can be made. Today's heroes consist of those that fight on the good side. Many don't deserve to be called a hero. Those fighting a battle to lose and gain nothing for the good of the people don't deserve to be called such thing. The future will change just like it has. This generation of children is being taught in the now changed society. For now we become the heroes when it is the right time. But when will it be that time is the question. A hero is looked upon differently in everyone's perspective. Maybe they could be looked at as a villain or a traitor from someone's point of view. I wouldn't say that society has a slim chance of heroism though we are seeing destruction throughout the world. Sooner or later, a hero is bound to rise out of the blue just like they all have in the past.
ReplyDeleteI think time is made from yesterdays like how yesterdays make up of your memory. If time is made up of the past then time for heroes can be defined in two ways: chronologically and psychologically; if there are any. Chronologically the times of heroes never existed. A heroic act is a timeless action where when it is recognized or when it is repeated, the heroic act then ceases to become heroic or unique to the hero. This is when the hero misinterprets themselves. They become misinterpreted when they recognize what they did and thus react through living life vicariously in the past. Because heroes try so hard in trying to relive the past, they lose creativeness. Creativity makes up the foundations of heroic acts and psychological time. Since there are no heroes of the past, I think the only heroes are yourself in relationship to others. We make up a classic example of a hero. You and I symbiotically follow and make a society in which is a timeless state where everyone is inviolable to labels or where labels, labels such as heroes, labels which divide our make’n follow’n society such as religion ethnicity and thought, are all the same.
ReplyDeleteI believe the time of heroes can be long last depending on the person, or the people. It can take a lot to be a hero to some people, but not much to others. It can be someone who saves the world like we used to see on cartoons as we were going up; like Captain Planet, Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, etc. But as we grow older, we seem to realize that they were just cartoons and most of the time the things that happened in cartoons and movies, isn't what necessarily happens in real life. We get a little older and think that policemen and firemen are the “real” heroes. They were their to arrest the bad guys and put wild, untamable fires out. As kids, teen, and sometimes adults, we've failed to realize that 98% of the time, our parents and grandparents are the real heroes. They've taken steps and made mistakes with us trying to help us better ourselves. They've gotten us out of trouble when there was no one else to turn to. See, police men don't always do their jobs. There's good cops, bad cops and maybe the same with firemen. But at the end of the day, the true heroes are living with us right at home because no one will care for us more than our own parents and grandparents.
ReplyDeleteAt a young age we were taught that heroes were strong masculine men who saved the city or possibly the world, as superman often did. At this day and age heroes aren't consider to be wearing the classic tights and cape, however, heroes do still exist today. Heroism can be interpreted and valued in many ways. In the dictionary the word hero is defined as a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. This should be changed because not only can a hero be a woman but also they don't have to necessarily be admired for their brave deed or noble qualities. Anyone who is willing to do anything that makes a positive difference not just in a community or city but in the world should be considered a hero.
ReplyDeleteAn example of one of the biggest heroes in the new millennium is Steve Jobs. He believed that there should be an efficient computer in every home, school and business back in 1970 and made his belief come true while helping the billions of people who buy apple computers today. Steve Jobs not only set the bar for technology but also ameliorated humanity. A true hero changes the world.
As technology seems to be advancing at a rapid pace, one way in changing the world is to create the technology to make something epic or incredible where the whole world can be affected.
Believing in heroes is sometimes only done by young children who only see Superman, Spiderman or Batman as super heroes. In the comic book world heroes are seen everywhere but in today’s modern world where are these masked heroes or vigilante? Do they exist and we just don’t notice them or do they not exist. Today’s heroes don’t need to be bitten by radioactive spiders or need to fly and have super strength, but fancy equipment can help today’s “heroes”. The real heroes are actually the everyday doctors and police officers who truly do their jobs to help people not just to get a pay check. Police officers who capture our communities’ villains and allow us to sleep safely at night without having nightmares of horrible things that could happen or the doctors who travel abroad without pay to help people who can’t afford medical attention; those doctors are worthy of being called a heroes. Yet heroes don’t always have to be doctors or even police officers, you only need an individual whose main concern is saving people and who also always puts the safety of the people around them first. A definition a hero can be seen as anyone man or woman who commits a selfless deed which benefits a person or group of people. Saying this, one person who saves another can be seen as a hero for risking their life to save someone else. Saving a small child can leave him or her seeing their saver as their own personal hero because without that individual that kid wouldn’t be alive. Most remember the one person who saved them over the cruel people who have tried to hurt them, that person who saves them can be a friend or even a stranger. Getting a bully to stop teasing another student can make you a hero, but can make you a better friend. Your personal superman can be found if you are surrounded by the right people.
ReplyDeleteI believe that "heroism" has many different meanings. It can be a super hero, a person you look up to, or someone that you admire. Older people say heroism is different back in their days but it's a different generation and things have change. People now a days have heroes based on what they have been through. Heroes do exist but it can be viewed differently by others. When you hear the word hero, you instantly have superheroes pop in you head like Batman or the Power Rangers but in reality a regular human being can also be a hero too.
ReplyDeleteMy definition of a hero is a person who puts a positive impact in my life. Someone who is always there for me and someone who's willing to support me until the end. A good role model and someone that does good things. Helps out the community and has a good heart. A person who transpires to inspire and helps motivate people to do good is a hero. Examples of my heroes are my whole family, friends, teachers, and people who do good things to make this world a great place.

ReplyDeleteWhen I think of heroes I think about the stories in books and television shows of superman batman and Spiderman fighting crime and saving people. They are people who behind a mask inspire many to believe in the impossible. This is the fantasies of the young the ones who still believe the worlds problem can be fix by one person. These ideas have been around since our Grandparents were little. But heroism is not only found in fiction but it lives within those who do things for the only benefit of helping others. Some may say that the age of heroes of people who would be single out and be put in pedestals is over, that today there are none worthy. I disagree with that idea, the idea that to be a hero you must have some sort badge or recognition that said you’re a hero. Heroes exist in different forms and do different valiant things. The view of who is a hero deeply depends on the individual. The soldiers in our country are heroes for their sacrifices. A person who gives to charity, a person who expresses their opinion against something they do not believe is right, or simple someone who helps an old women cross the streets. These are examples of what would consider heroes. Though not all are given medals for their actions I think that we should all value even the smallest kind gesture for even those have big impacts on are lives.
People have always looked backed nostalgically and believed that their heroes were so great and or that their heroes would be the last. The reason for this is because when people admire a hero (usually in younger age) they create a sort of mental bond with that person because they were so significant during their favorite times of life. This can be showed through sayings such as “they don’t make them like they used to” “back in my day”. I do not believe that the time of heroes has ended; there are modern everyday heroes all around the world. The heroes nowadays may not be gunslingers or knights but can be related to them. For example soldiers that serve in the military are seen as heroes for many because they protect the freedom and liberty that many enjoy in this country. Another form of a modern day hero may be people that help other people, such as an aid worker helping people from natural disasters that have been frequently devastating other countries over the last few years. Heroism is and has been very much alive today as much as it’s ever been and will continue to throughout the ages of human history as it always has been.
ReplyDeleteThe term "heroism" can be interpreted so many different ways, some might think that the hero of the day is the crazy man with tights, a mask, and cape, but of others their hero is the person that saved them from slipping on a banana peel. Heroism still exists in our time, it might not be like the heroes from before, but we have people that we admire and we consider them our heroes.
ReplyDeleteFor most African Americans they consider Martin Luther King Jr. as their hero because he had the guts to stand up for his rights, and to make his voice be heard. Most people might say oh that is nothing, but they don't realize all the dangers King had to go through to make his race feel happy and safe. That is what people look for, they want to find a person that will protect them from all harm. They want a person to stand up and say that's enough. They want to be saved by someone they can trust.
In most religions, they believe God is their hero. They believe that he has saved them from misery, even America believes in God. "In God we trust." God can be just a made up figure, but it sure make people feel safe. Once you see someone protect you, you feel like you own them and you convert him or her your hero. Your hero doesn't have to be the one that wears a mask and that only comes out at nights, there are a lot of different type of heroes. It can be the person that created internet because without it you wouldn't be able to read this. Even Steve Jobs can be you hero for creating the iPhone so you can stay in reach with your family. Or maybe you are the hero for picking out the trash from the park.
In today’s time heroes are not lost, but they are found in different ways. A lot of today’s heroes come in the form of music artists, actors, sports idols, etc. People look up to them because a lot of them have had to go through a struggle that others could relate to. When you can relate to a person they can become a hero. As a hero you can help to improve the society. Since others look up to them they can make a lot of changes and help people. There are plenty of heroes, for example Lebron James is a hero for many. He made it out of such a tough situation and people can connect with him. He is such a difference in people’s life and is definitely a hero. Heroes definitely are not gone and there are so many.
ReplyDeleteWhen I hear the word hero I think of someone with admirable traits or qualities. To a lot of people a hero might be their favorite actor or a musician. To others it might be someone closer to home like their parents or uncles/aunts. But the term hero has a lot of different meanings according to different people. Some that supports the war in Iraq may think that George Bush is a hero, while others think that the decisions he made were wrong. On the other hand, Muslims may see Osama Bin Ladin as a hero for fighting for their religious beliefs while some hate him for getting involved in the war. Or Mother Teresa for example. She spent her whole life helping people. As for teenagers my age may often portray actors as their heroes. Like for those that are fans of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ might find Johnny Depp as their hero but they often ignore the reality and just praise the actors for their fictional deeds. As for today some people might often view a hero as someone that saves lives and property, one that keeps the peace, someone who educate the young, fights for human rights, preserves nature and the environment, invents cures for illnesses, or someone that does something about poverty. The opportunities I see for heroism today can simply be an everyday person changing the world. “Heroism is not only in the man, but in the occasion.” – Calvin Coolidge

ReplyDeleteBack in the day heroes were seen as superficial like in the movies. The type of heroes kids would see as people such as Superman or Underdog things like that, that makes kids believe those people are real and can help you in real life situations. As you get older you realize that all that stuff is just TV and you start learning more and more about history your aspects an attributes change to what a hero really is. You learn that the real heroes aren’t the ones that you see on the big screen, they’re the ones that make changes and stand up for what right even if that means they may have had consequences to face. The older generation sees heroes differently because this generation is corrupt off of videogames and music. The older generation knows more about the hardships in which has occurred and some may have even went through them if they’re old enough. This generation only knows what the school system is supposed to teach them, some teachers don’t go in-depth with the history subject and just teach straight from the book. As more and more technically come around people few the people that made computers possible as heroes because they have a Facebook or Twitter. But what about the people that sacrificed everything they had just to be heard or change a rule that was unfair or racist. The people like Gandhi, Rosa Parks, Dr. King or Harriet Tubman that helped others by helping themselves. For kids you only see heroes as something that’s not actually there. They are seen as the tough and masculine and that can take on anybody at any time and not be afraid. It’s sort of the same for the real heroes even though I’m sure there was times they were afraid but through their perseverance made it through all the hard times and sleepless nights. I think the people these days that should be seen as the heroes are the people in the army that’s fighting for our country away from their families.

ReplyDeleteIn the past heroes were always the people or charicters that either had superpowers that they would use to save civilians. Where as since then heroes now days are more people who do not have super powers but they have made world changing decisions. In the past heroes were more defined of the super people who would alwasy save the cities from disasters that would have wiped out the city. They would use their super strength, or they would use some other power that is outrageous that humans can not have. Today heros are more of the people that inspire us or have done outstanding deeds to the society. For example someone who saves someone else, the person who get saved would most likely think of them as a hero and if the deed was great enough such as a life or death situation then more people would have though of them as a hero. Other heroes these days are the people speak out and do what is right even when everyone else believes something else. such as Rosa Parks or someone else that spoke out in what she believed in when most people thought segrigation was wrong, but they did not speak out like she did. In the past most of the heroes were unreal and were more cartoon characters than real people. Today the opportunity for heroism is still open even though very few people will take the extra step. Many people do not get to choose if they are a heroe but there are opportunities that may present themselves in ones life. So if people take advantage orf those opportunities they may be able to be known as "heroes". Many think that thye are worth the name of a heroe when they really are not. Being a heroe is one of those things that you can not really choose to name yourself that, but it is more that you are placed under that title by other people once the heroeic deed is done. Everyone has a different defintion of heroe and what it consists of. Heroes are the people who go above and beyond what is expected of people in the society. They are the ones that will speak out when everyone else is scared, they are the ones that are not afraid of helping someone else even if it means life or death. Heroes in the present day are stronger than the ones in the past. They are real people unlike the heroes in the past when most of the heroes were defined as people with super powers in cartoons who weould save everone from a perdicament. Overall everything is changing and the way people define it is also changing. Then people also have people that are heroes to them because some person has done something specatular in their life that was life changing or that they saw was spectactular. There is not real definition or who exactly a heroe is.The definition that is present at the moment will most likely change as time keeps moving on.
The older generations believed heroes are like soldiers, since those people lived through things like WW2 and the Great Depression. Heroes have continued to exist over time, it will never end. Today heroes are the citizens, they help the world become a much safer and better place. For example a daily hero would be like a policeman, they protect the people from others that threaten to destroy the pace in a community, another daily hero would be teachers, since they teach young minds and evolve it to become much more sharper. Heroism today gives a chance for everybody to help benefit their community even if they are not getting anything for their work, they still do it because they feel that it is their responsibility to help the world.

ReplyDeleteI believe that heroism will never die out as long as there is people living, since each person will believe that they must do something to benefit the society. Every person in the world are super heroes except those who use their ability to do bad things.
I believe that heroism still exists till this day. There are many heroes out there in this world. To me, today’s heroes are those who help others and make differences in many peoples lives. For example, a firefighter who walks into a flaming house that looks like hell who is willing to risk his life just to rescue a little girl trapped on the 2nd floor. And also an EMT volunteer who sacrifices many hours of her life to ride around in a small cramped ambulance just to save an old woman whose life is on the brink of death. These types of people are heroes in my book and they are worthy to be called heroes. Many people can become heroes these days, just go to school and make differences in peoples lives, not just yours. That’s what a true hero is to me.

ReplyDeletePeople may agree that our “heroic” days are over. It’s depending on the generation as well as who the people are, because obviously there point of views aren’t ever the same no matter what people say, think or actually do. Sometimes it may vary on their views on things and what really is “heroic” to them. Although some heroic figures from the past may influence the people from now as a growing legions for some Tupac. He inspired many to change things and do things right. Now maybe heroes don’t exist because were in such a different time of moment that our own heroes are our own and I believe on what we believe is right. How I look at it back then it was a “newer” world everyone was set off in different worlds meaning that back then people on my view where more reserved and changing the world you had to have guts to do it. And so I think that was the issue that now thinks differ from we have in mind now than back then. Like now one of the biggest issues in our country is our economy now who’s going to change that now? Now see that’s a think not one of us can’t change. I believe to that to happen we all need to come together as a country and reunify all then we all can be heroes in this situation. Past “heroes” do last a life time, they had to be admired for something and maybe they can influence people now days to not conform to anything and reach for what goals are. We do look back at them and see how their work influenced us. Some today that are so called heroes believe they need to show more enthusiasm. Something different that they want for us, some just do it for the title so they can be on top or at least think they are. So next time you think about a hero make sure what they have done to change your community or at least do it for yourself.
Honestly my belief is the older generations before us that had there own unique expierences and such have the right to hold onto what they went through and cherish that, no one should take that away from the. To a certain extent where they shouldn't "live in the past move on", when honestly i believe they aren't living in the past they have moved on good or bad but i feel they have a right to hold onto those good times in there lifes that made them the happiest. A hero to me could be anything from a human being one of us saving a life to simply someone who does something small or big a task for the benefit of us or our world. I believe were all heroes to a certain point if we show it or not and that is where the true success comes into play at. Honestly from my sources and knowledge i find there is no hero out there that i can recall that truly defines a hero. Do we need a current figure in todays world and time as a rolemodel and a leader? Maybe so but one thing im certain about is we could all be heroes if we try and make the best out of what we have, and to cherish our good times such as the previous generations have done!
