What is the power of a flag? Why do countries need flags and how do they use them? Is a flag a sign of control or independence? Why do politicians use so many flags when they speak?

I think the power of a flag is basically to show the pride in your country of culture. To show what the people in the country think and what they mean. The flag is an easy way for people to interprate who you are and where you're from without actually asking you.the stories behind or flag is to bascally show the equality of our country . Andthe uniting between the north and the south and everyone trying to have the same beleifs and equalities as eachother regardless ofskin color culture or religon. A flag is a sign of both to me because it. I shows independce from other countries and that they have a place of their own but at the same time it shows the control over the people in the country and the autority to force people to agree. I think politicans use many flags when the speak to show orhave favrtism towrd other things or maybe to even grasp favortism in order to get more power. The flags could also show similarites with their beliefs and customs.

Flags are powerful because they show the culture behind the country. They show what that country specifcally specializes in. I think that countries have created their own flag to tell everyone who you are and what are you known for. Flags are a way for people to know who you are. I think most flags have a feature in them that represents something. For example, The fifty states on the United States flag represents all fifty states that are part of the U.S. Some flags can even tell stories such as the history of that certain country. I think a flag can be mixture of both control and independance. Depending on how the flag looks like and what is on it. Some flags may show symbols that represent control and power. Others may show independance. Symmbols like weapons, figures, and many others. Im not so sure about politicians and why they use flags. I think that they use flags to show the other members, what country are we really talking about. I forgot to mention that flags can represent a persons own beliefs such as religious type beliefs.

  3. the power of a flag is to show the pride in your culture and country. countries need flags in order to show that it is their land and they use them by showing pride and saying the pledge of allegiance i think that a flag can show independence because their are a lot of people who are independent and want to show it but then a gain it can show control because of how thE city caN BE OR EVEN HOW THE GOVERNMENT CAN BE ACTING TOO SO ITS PRACTICALLY A MIXURE OF BOTH.BECAUSE THEY WANT TO KEEP THE PEACE BY SHOWING THAT IT IS OK WITH A FLAG TJHAT REPRESENTS INDEPENDENCE AND PRIDE SO NOONE WILL TRY TO ATTACK ANYONE.

The power of a flag comes from what it represents. Flags usually symbolizes the unity and strength of people who share a common belief. The stars of the US flag represent the various states and the colors represent some of our values, like valor and liberty. Countries need flags for recognition. Citizens can identify themselves with a flag easier than they can with the people who make up their government. Flags can be used to represent a country's people and serve to rally those people to a shared goal. They can be used to gain the support of people. Flags are more of a sign of control than of independence. There is no independent movement in a flag. There is only the united front that cannot separate. Politicians use flags when they speak because it is a simple way to show what they believe in. By waving around a flag they are using the flag to convince others to support the flag and the politician's ideals if they believe in what the flag represents. They are trying to create an image that associates themselves with good flags and works against bad flags.

  5. The flag strongest strength is installing pride in its country man. Pride is a double edged sword that gives us unity but can push us into making terrible decisions. The pride can come from its symbolic meaning or the history behind the nation. Texas’s flag has a single star to represent the fact that it governed itself as a single country outside US and Mexico’s influence. Its history gives strength to those from that state. That same pride foolishly leads others that they are better. Just because you are from one place does not entitle what kind of person you are.

A flag is to symboize what your country is. Such as the American flag, the stars represent the states and the stripes represents the colonies. Countries use flags to show their independence from other countries and to show who they are and what they can do. I think a flag is to show the countries independence from other countries by having different symbols and colors. Many politicians use flags when they speak so other people can get an idea of what they are talking about.

  7. I think that the strength of a flag all depends on your belief of its symbolic meaning. For instance, those who appreciate the history represented in the American flag, can believe it's extremely powerful and meaningful. However, to someone who just thinks it's a bunch of stars and stripes may not care about what it truly symbolizes. Flags seem to be a type of reminder to its followers. They represent and remind whoever may be associated with the flag, why their country or group started in the first place. Personally, whenever I see an American flag I think about the fact that I'm part of a whole. Flags mean unity and tell you that you belong to something, hence being a form of control. Any group or nation with a flag must have to have some sort of figure in rule. There is no such thing as independence when a single flag is supposed to represent a whole group, through my eyes. Politicians surround themselves with flags all the time because they want to prove to their followers that they are loyal to their country as well as patriotic. They feel that citizens would only vote for someone who seems like they have the good of the country at heart. To them, what better way to show the voters that than to stand around flags symbolizing everybody's "beliefs"?

I believe that the power of flag is to show representation of your country. Countries have flags so they have pride in themselves, and is suppose to be their own nation's "culture". It makes the people to try to have pride in their country. So far it has been sucessful, because there are many songs, and poems, and activities, that are very serious and involves flags. I believe a flag is also symbolism for a God. You respect it like one. You can't burn your own flag, or any other flag. Countries also need a flag so people that are not in it, know about them, and the people in the country know that they are the same people. The people use flags in many public places, to remind people that they are in a land of a famous country, so they need to follow their laws. They also use it in sports. I am not quite sure why. A flag is a sign of control. I say that because, there is no evidence to support that a flag is for freedom. A flag is a sign of control, because everyone has to follow it. They really don't have a choice. They either follow it, or get executed, or another punishment. Politicians use flags when they speak. Imagine this. If you are an American, and some non-American person came to your countries, and gave you suggestions about laws you need to make, with their flag on their chest. You would probably think, wth is he doing here, gtho. However, if an American did the same thing, and said the same thing with an American flag, more Americans would agree with the his idea. Therefore I think that politicians wear the flag so that the people think that what they are doing is right.

  9. The power of the flag is the nation behind it; the flag is only a representation of what the country is. Nations use their flags to convey their history and pride for their nation through means of this tangable artwork. Countries do and don't need them. The reason they do is because it makes a territorial statement, gives a reminder to stay patriotic, and let's everyone know who this nation is. The reason they don't is because people can already just name their country, state, region, etc. on their own, without having the need of a flag to tell them where they're from. It's a piece of cloth on a stick to some, but to others it means much, or maybe, too much.

In my honest opinion, the flag is leaning more over to control, but also has its reasons for a sign of independence. First, independence: an example would be the United States. Our flag was formed on the U.S. independence from Britain, with our 13 stripes being the thirteen colonies, and the 50 stars our 50 states. The flag gives everyone the right to remember that they're independent for the most part of their lives, and your level of patriotism is not limited in the U.S., unless you go to rash decisions such as desecrating the flag. It is also a sign of control for the reason that they want you to remember what nation you're in and that you're under control of the government. You are not aloud to hurt the flag in any way and get penalized for doing it, and people feel the need to rise against the control of the government through the flag.

As said earlier in the class discussion, the politicians use the flags to remind everyone to remain patriotic and listen to what they think is good for the country. The flags in this case could be classified as mind control, rather than patriotism, because it is a tactic for politicians to be viewed as the saviours to our nation's problems and threats.

  10. I believe that a flag is nothing but an illusion. The flag is seen and perceived by the nation as something that is there to abide the people. Like the readers of a book of illusions, no one but the artist knows what the "readers," are really looking at. The artist I am referring to is no one else but the higher power--the government. The flag demonstrates the superiority of not only the country, but the people running the country, almost putting an emblem on what they claim is theirs. Countries use flags to show what their land is all about, including their morals and even history. At times, when the flag is over-exposed and too, "out there," it might rub off as arrogant. Pride can be shown for the sake of building confidence, until it reaches the extent. The extent is where whoever the flag represents sees other countries viewing the flags as subordinate or of less value than them. Flags subtly show a segregation in state and people. While the people believe they are spreading the word of independence and power as a nation, the government is seeing the posting of flags as control because as they see their nation's flags surrounding them, they know that they are behind the illusion that the morals and purpose as leaders is supposedly improving the status of the common people. Politicians use this technique in order to win votes. Displaying the country's flag on them like an advertisement, the politicians try to show that they are one for the people, and that he/she is ready to work for them and to benefit the nation. In the end, all the politician wants is votes, and they use the flag as a possible goal of his/her candidacy. When used strategically, the flag's can be used to reel people in, demonstrating its power.

I think people use flags as a sign of independence to show they are there own country and that they have no other country controlling them. Flags are a sign of independence to me as i said that it is to show they are there own country. Politicians use it to show what they believe and what country they are representing.

The power of a flag is to symbolize for what the country or state represents and what it stands for and what it means. I think countries need flags to show people who they are, where they come from, and what they represent. A lot of counties use flags in different ways. For example, the United States flag on the flag there are fifty stars those stars represent each state in the United States. It depends on the country or state you are in because some flags are a sign of control and some are a sign of independence. I think politicians use a flag when they speak is to show everyone where there from and they love their country or state so much that they would come somewhere else to represent their country or state.

The power of the flag is huge, especially in this country. During the early stages of this country people fought for their independence and proven to be citizens in this country. The flag of that country, which ever it is, shows a sign of pride, freedom, and independence of the people that live in that country. Unfortunately, two people truly understand the meaning of our flag and show no respect or understanding of its origin. The flag is one of our greatest signs of independence which unite all people together. Politicians show there respect to the flag especially during campaign years by having many of them present.

  13. Flags for countries can have several meanings to them. A flag majority of the time can symbolize how much a country went through. It shows how the country chose that specific image to be on the flag. A power of a flag shows its citizens that the country has strong leadership. A country needs a flag to show where they stand in the world. They also need it to show, that they’re independent and how much work they had to perform in order to stand alone. A flag can be both shown for a sign of control and that one is independent. Mostly for one to know that they are supported by one another. I think politicians use flags for when they speak so that they know who is being represented.

  14. I believe that flags symbolize many different things in a country. Every country has its own flag for many different reasons. I believe that they put what is most significant in their history on their flags. The U.S. has 50 stars for the 50 states that are in a whole. It also has 13 stripes to represent the 13 colonies that became the first states. So on with the colors, shapes, etc. They all have a significant meaning to the country, or state, to show their pride. A flag is a sign of control because you are in a whole, and the leaders tell you to do what is best for your nation. They do not let you run around doing ANYTHING you want. There are rules in a nation, and that is why I believe that a flag shows control. Politicians use so many flags to give the people the image that they are proud and care for what is best in the nation. They want to show the people that they are the right ones for the job.

  15. A flag is an object that has an emotional attachment between other people, either citizens or foreigners, and the country what the flag is representing. A flag can represent a country, a movement, a team, a community, and many other things. The flag is used to show their presence, their power, and what they stand for. A flag is a sign of control. For example, in the U.S. you can own any flag you want, but if you have a foreign flag and the American flag, the American flag always has to be poised above the foreign flag to show “respect”. A flag is used to show power and loyalty as well. Politicians use a lot of flags because they want to show their pride, loyalty, love, and respect for their country to gain peoples trust and to show that they proudly wish to represent their government.

I think the power of the flag is really just a statement of unity and pride. It’s a symbol that represents all the people as a country. Countries need flags to let other countries know that they are this and stand for these beliefs as one. I think a flag is really a sign of control because if someone, like the president, stands on a podium and talks about pressing issues and gives his opinion on what is really best, then of course people would want what the president wants because he is in the public eye as someone to look up to. It’s basically used as a manipulative object. Politicians use so many flags when they speak to let the public know that he/she stands and believes and has pride for the country. There are people that really say that they’ll die for the country, like the flag holders, but I don’t think it’s worth dying for the flag?

  17. Flags mean different things to different people. Like to extremely patriotic people it means independence and just causes them to have a very concided feeling about their nation. But to some like me, we just see it as a symbol or representation of a particular nation. What a flag means just depends on the person talking about it's connotation.
Countries use flags to show ownership over land, such as a flag of the US on the moon. They also use it as a method of control over the nation. Like, people under that flag may seem like they're independent and feel special. Yet in doing so, they are falling under the control of the government.
Politicians use numerous flags so that they seem trustworthy and they seem friendly to all those other nations that have those flags. They may also have large amounts of their own nations flag so that they seem like an extremely patriotic person. By doing that, they are seizing control over the people's attention.

  18. Most people think a flag is a symbol of their country. Well I think it’s a symbol of manipulation. Political leaders use flags to rally their citizens and followers to get them hyped up and ready to take their side. When Hitler was coming to power, he was using the swastika to rally up his troops and prepares to conquer the world. Now that symbol leads to hatred with in most people. It is also to show that it is their territory. Like when Neil Armstrong put the American flag on the moon, it shows that they reached the beyond and shows that they are willing to do the extremes.

Countries should have flags to keep control of their country and just to show individuality. But it is not a necessity and countries could find different ways to show what they represent. Flags are the most common way. It is also good to have at the Olympics. Displaying your flag shows what country you are from, respect, and love.

Political figures use flags to show each country they respect and like to represent. But also it is to cover up their true intentions. People have a quick way to detect if a person is good or bad. It could be the way they dress, where they’re from, or even how they walk and talk. So they use these flags to show that their on your side, but it isn’t always the truth, don’t worry most of the time it is. So that means you should not always trust anybody who displays a lot of flags behind them while they speak, but actually listen to what they have to say.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well... based on my perspective, on be half of my mind, according to my calculations. I think the meaning or should i say, the definition of the power of a flag means to Show pride, what territory your on or in other words, who owns this land and even to show what they represent.Country uses flags to show meanings like, for example the American flag. It has 50 stars to represent the 50 states. Also countries uses flags to show people who's territory are you on. Well different flag signs could possibly be a sign of control, or in other words Power. For example the "Nazi" flag. They were taken over, showing and waving the nazi flag as a sign of Power. For Independence, another example like our United States flag. It shows and represent independence. If it wasn't for our founding fathers, then America wouldn't exist today.

I think flags have a major role in power. Flags are used to indicate who they are up against. It shows that when your flag is up that the country is active and still in control. Although Flags can be used in a form of manipulation it is also being used as a symbol of how the people that live upon it see it as. There is no right answer of what a flag is for since the flag is seen throughout many perspective of the the people under it. But the main reason that i think a flag is used for is power and to mark territories.Kind of like an advertisement but bigger. The flag in my opinion doesn't serve for independence because your living upon it. It shows that you are a follower and the flag is used as a manipulation so where is the independence?

    ReplyDelete
  21. The power of the flag is to basically show the importance of your country because the flag you use will always represent you and the people that live in your country. Just the united states use the 50 stars to represent all the colonies that the united states started it and also how they use the red and blue to tell what their country fought for. I think a flag is a sign of control because it like they are trying to tell you that if you are going to live in their country you have to follow there rules and everything they are going to tell you to do. But even though they want people to listen to them some of them are not going to listen. Just as they say that supposedly everyone comes to the United States to live the American dream what is that if it does not make sense because some of them just come to mess up because 3 out of 5 survive others just go to back or just suffer. Politicians use flags because they think that the country they are supposedly backing up is going to defend them but later on they are just going to give you a kick in the butt and tell you they don’t need you anymore. That’s why you have to watch out who you trust with certain things.

  22. From a simpler mindset, one may say that a flag has the power to inspire patriotism and pride
in a nation. However, when you look into the context of flags closer, you can see that the power of a flag is the power to control. This concept of “control” can vary, such as control of a territory by raising a flag, or signifying loyalty and control through a flag. But subtler forms of control run deeper than that. A flag has the power to manipulate, to control people into your views, however controversial they area. After all, isn't a patriotic decision a good decision? Nations and their politicians in the past and present have always used flags in the backdrop of their speeches to convey a message of patriotism in their speeches, no matter what they might be about. The imagery of the flag will convince people that the politician is right as it benefits their patriotic needs. When you are a more common person, however, you believe in the flag's power of patriotism. You believe that the flag is a symbol of what you believe your country represents, and you try to embody that. It is that belief in the flag which allows leaders and nations to control us and our insatiable hunger to serve the country and the flag that represents it. Some common people, however, see through the potential manipulation that a flag has, and considers flags as a symbol of control over their rights and free will. In general however, flags can be considered the dividing line between those in power and those that are not. People in power will consider flags as a symbol of control because of the potential power a flag has over ruling over common people, while the common people will see a flag as a symbol of independence for the pride and patriotism that it invokes and how the “freedoms” that the flag gives them allow citizenry to celebrate the two characteristics.

  23. A flag is a symbol that represents who you are as a country. The colors, the strips, and the stars all represent different things to our country. People fight for our flag even though its just a piece of clothe. People fight for what the clothe stands for, their freedom, or their home, or just both. Its a sense of pride in people because our flag is who we are as a whole.
A flag can be used for independence or can be used as control. Some people feel very patriotic when they see their flag and some people feel like its a symbol of our government blinding us. Its your decision on how you take it. Our flag shows that we fought for our country and we fought for new rights that no one thought of before so it stands for freedom. And it does also show control like when you put up a flag to show that you own that territory and that you don't want people getting on land that you control. It can go either way.
Politicians use the the flag to show people that they love their country and that they want to serve it with respect. So the more the flags equals the more patriotic they are. And some people for it. You have to see them for what they say and what they stand for and not focus on how much they use the flag in their campaign.

I believe that the power of a flag is to symbolize what makes that country different than others. Countries need flags to show that they have power and and they use them to show their pride. A flag is a sign of independence. Politicians use so many flags when they speak because they have to show which country they are representing.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think people use flags to symbolize solidarity within a community, to show that while they are different in many ways they have the same basic beliefs. It is used to connect everyone together as a whole and, in a way, show that the community is unified and strong. Some people feel such a connection to their flag that they are willing to die for it.A flag can symbolize peace, pride, independence, people need a tangible object to justify their intangible feelings and ideas. That is all in the eye of the beholder because, in reality, a flag is nothing more than a piece of cloth with an intricate or simple design on it. But what that design represents shows the heart and soul of a country, tells everyone around them what they represent.
A flag can be used for independence and control. If a community has just overthrown their government and flies a new flag it shows their independence, just like when the US fought Britain for its independence. The people who fly that flag, who believe in that flag feel a sense of pride, patriotism because they know that something different is going to happen. That is where the flag can be used for control. A government, new or very well established, can use the flag to manipulate people. They can use it to show that a piece of land is now theirs, thus forcing the people who inhabited that area to leave. It can be used either way, depending on what that person needs.
Politicians use the flag to show that, while they may not live in that area, they love and respect every state/county/town equally. People view flags as a way of showing just how patriotic they are and when it comes to running to lead a country, the more flags there are the better. They use flags to win votes, to win people.

Every country have flags because it represent who they are and to say this is our territory n we own this. Also to tell people know who they are. They use the flag to represent them and to let people know were they coming from and it’s a the code to get it to do exactly what I wanted .The concept of flag desecration continues to provoke a heated debate over protecting a #national symbol protecting free speech, and protecting the liberty represented by a national symbol. The flag is kind both control and independence because when you but up your flag it means you are on control and you want to be the best and to represent you county. They use any flags its because they are representing were ones believe and to say there are on there side and to have respect.

  27. The power a flag has is that it can rally its citizens behind it. It is a symbol of hope at times and is said to represent our great country. Some people would even die for the flag during wars, claiming it represented what they were fighting for. It really doesn’t have significance by the government but the people choose to give it something. Countries need a flag to fit in with the other countries. But also give people the pride to say, “Yep that’s the flag of our great country!” The flag is of independence so long as its people say it stands for it. If the government told people how to view the flag it would be a sign of control. Politicians use flags to show they have pride in their country. That they care and are patriotic and that they know what the country wants.

There is a great deal of power in a flag. The power is the fact that people use it as a representation of their beliefs, whether its a country or religion. People have fought for and died for a flag. That is the power that a flag holds. Countries have flags in my opinion because it shows them that they are a unity and civilized in a way. Flags of nations show that they are owned by that country. A flag can be both a symbol of freedom and oppression. But ultimately it is a representation of control. If people think about it, you will see that the flag tells the citizens that they are under their government system and laws. Going into a foreign country means that you have to follow there laws and ideas. At the borders of a country their are usually flags, representing their country including the government system. If you cross the border you must now follow their laws. I think politians use flags during their speeches to show they are for the country in its welfare and interests. Also that they are not traitors to the country. If a politian didn't have flags during his/ her speech it would implant the idea that he/she is only sabotaging the nation.

The flag represent the pride of a country it represents what it is and what it stands for. It is the icon reprsenting freedom in which the civilians live under. the flag raises the devotion of the citizens towards their country to fight and proctect the country. It is a big emotional influce of then country's population. The flag is a representation of the unity of the population of a country as one big powerful country. A country needs a flag to remind people of the power their country has due to past revolutions which lead to what the country stands for now and progress made to the actual day we live in.

  31. A flag is the representation of a country. The flag is the message of the country, the story, and its pride. A flag has the power to unite the common people of a nation, giving us a sense of a strong nationalism presence. The flag is everywhere, in school, in stores, on clothing, its omnipresent. It connects us in a way that is misunderstood often as controlling. Countries need a flag to give them that ubiquitous sense of nationalism and use them to bring people together to remember why they are in that country and the history of that nation.
The flag is a sign of independence. A nation becomes a nation because it wants to be separated and united under one common belief of how they want to be ran. A nation is its own nation by being independent. Therefore a flag, being a symbol of nationalism, is independence.
Politicians use so many flags when they speak to show they are for the country. As I stated many times, a flag is the allegory of a nation's nationalism. Politicians use the flags to show they are rich in nationalism and prove it by flags.

The only amount of power that flags obtain is the amount of power a person gives to it. A flag is an inamiment object which is absolutely worthless until somebody gives it worth. A flag itself is a piece of cloth, it has some colors, a few stripes, stars, maybe a symbol for two depending on the country. To a common person a flag symbolized patrioticness for your state or country. People believe flags represent freedom. The power of a flag differs from person to person. It is also an ignorance thing. Citizens have never really been implemented with the meaning of a flag, it is something that is left up to our own imagination.I can guarantee you that my interpretation of the American flag is miles away from Obama's interpretation. Countries need flags so they can separate themselves from other countries, it gives a country a sense of nationalism. A flag sets one country apart from another. It depends on the person's point of view whether or not a flag is a sign or independence or control. Only extremist would allow themselves to be controlled by a piece of fabric with an interpretitive meaning behind it. In some cases, yes a flag an be a sign of independence. It can show how a country became its own. Politians use so many flags when they speak because they want to hammer the concept of pride in our skulls. They want us to realize how prideful they are of their country and they don't want us to forget it.

  33. The power of a flag represents a lot of things depending upon the country. One thing all flags symbolize is the strength, and the trials and tribulations ever country has had to face at some point in time. Above all it represents our independent nature of our country it represents our equal rights an freedom we should al be grateful for everyday in the country were humbled upon to live in. We should always take time out to pay respect to our flag and the true things it represents. To add onto this note the reason people in high power such as the government often use the flag to help them possibly in a political gain or way is just so the people of there country know they also share respect for there country and want to truly support that.

  34. the power of a flag is to just show what nation you are in my opinion. theres really no power in a flag. a flag is just to show who you are. a flag is used by nations so that forigners can identify what country that is. also for some a flag can symbolize more then one thing. for example honor bravery or hope. and a flag can symbolize one thing,a country. when you look at the flags beside the flag your were born with, the first thing that come to your head is the countrys name, not the meaning of it. some country use flags to show support for the goverment or its belifs or standards.countrys can use a flag by using it in political event the most. when they use it in political events they use the flag so that people will think they are saying it for the country. the falg is basically like a subliminal message saying "patriot" about the person. a flag is somewhat used as a sign of control because if you live under that flag you are living under that flag alone and not any other flag. the only time a flag is a sign of independence is when there is no flag. politictions use a flag when they speak to make people thing what they say if for the good of the country.if you were to put a differant flag behind the polition people will thing hes against this country when really he said ideas that support the country.

  35. A flag to me symbolizes nationalism. It shows you where you're from and it also used as a pride for the cultures you follow and believe in. The flag is used by many countries as an act showing thats who they are or thats them. Basically what I'm trying to say is that it is a way for a country to get recognized. The flag is also viewed as patriotic and nationalistic considering how you look back at the ancient to modern wars many of them carried a flag as a sign of national pride. A flag may also have various meanings to that country. While to an outsider the filipino flag may be just red white blue and yellow stars, but to many Filipinos consider the blue as justice, red as the blood split for independence, the white equality, and the yellow stars as the geographical locations of the Philippines. Now what I think that a flag maintains control in the government. It a way for the governmetn to keep control, to prevent uprisings, and often using the excuse of what about the flag and nationalism? Many politicains use the flag to show that they are part of this country. They show it so that you know that they believe in the same ideas as you do. To be honest I think that we're so caught up in the Flag things that even burning a flag is considered immoral, while the guy who burned it was just expressing his ideas of how he thinks the idea that the govt has is bad.

The power of a flag is to symbolize the nation, state, group, etc... Like in Animal Farm, the flag is green with a white hoof and horn. The green background on the flag represents the green fields of England, as for the hoof and the horn signified the future Republic of the Animals when they would overthrow and be more dominant than the human race.I believe countries do not need flags but the main reason why they have them is again to symbolize them-selves such as the California flag, it has the grizzly bear which is a form of great strength while the flag represents its independence from Mexico. Back then a flag use to be both a sign of control for when a nation or country captured/claimed another as well as a sign of independence when other states gained it after being controlled from a country. Now to me it shows Neither a sign of strength nor a sign of independence unless it is gang/group affiliated. Politicians use so many flags to show who they are representing/speaking for and to show their beliefs. Today, in my opinion, flags are not of such great importance because all they basically do is symbolize a region which any person could do with a name tag etc...

To me a flag is no power it's just a flag with a picture. countries need flags to represent themselves, and countries usually use them to show that they control a place. For example, the US put the US flag on the moon to show that they've been there or own it i guest. many people believe it's a sign of control and so do i. since i'm not a politician i really don't why they use so many flags when they speak.

  38. A flag, a flag represents unity, family, teamwork, history, power, and respect. It is for all of these reasons, because that is what every country is about and was always about since the first day they were united as a country, and that's why having a flag is importance. It shows the unification of the teamwork a community can make or have made. It is very important to intimidate other countries on how a country with a flag works together than a fake dictatorship country, or run-down country such as Somalia etc..works on being ordered to do what the dictator wants them to do, and most of the things that dictators want to do is for the bad of man-kind or just plain selfishness and cruelty, such as Kony. A flag shows the history of what the country has been through to create it's country and who has fought for it. A flag can also intimidate others during an invasion, for example, D-day, there was flags every where, on destroyers, carriers, bunkers, you name it. But for the good of having a flag in my opinion is it's representation in unity and team work, cause that's where it all matters the most, if a country was created without it, then it's be very weak and a very unsafe community for the people.

In my opinion i think that the flag is just a way of showing other people who controls that place. i think the flag country's need flag to show there independence they fought to earn with either a good or bad history behind it i think that they use many flags so that other people from other country wont feel left out or feel like they are being betrayed. Also people use may types of flags to differentiate each country and also there is many different flags because is a part of the countries history and individuality

I think the power of is inspirational, and puersuasive. It also I think countries need flags to show unity, strength, and it also set aside a country from another.
I think a flag is a sign off both independence and control. A flag shows a certain group and that u need to follow the groups way and laws, but on the other hand your not being force to be in the group. I think that politics u a flag when they speak to show where there coming from the group and their beleif.

  41. The power of the flag is to show The representation of your country. Flags are designed to show where a group of people have come together to form a club, alliance, state, or country. Flags are also important to mark that a new land has been claimed. A flag is independence because it means that a country became it's own. I think politicians use flags when they are speaking because they want to show what they believe in.

The flag is something powerful, for it shows a nation's way of coming together as one. Countries make flags to indicate where they're from and it sets them apart from other countries. It's use is to show their nationality and independence. It shows they're not controlled and they are a whole.Politicians use flags to indicate what they believe in and can strengthen their argument.

I think countries use flags to symbolize what they represent such as a country. These symbols shows the freedom, the control, the uity that it represents as a whole, Such the U.S. has a flag that represents all 50 states in stars. The symbols on the flag shows what the country believes in and who they are as a unit.

With a country they want to show who they are, and flag represents on what they show. They want the world to know<a nd the only way to show it is on a flag

  44. The power of a flag is nothing unless there is facts behind why a flag was put together. a flag usually has a history to it.Countries usually put a statistic within their flag to show everybody what and who they are, how they live, how much they own, or what they do. Countries use flags to mark territory such as on the moon. The united states left an American flag up there to tell any foreign country on our planet or on any other planets that we have been on the moon. This doesn't necessarily mean that we own the moon, but it shows that we were the first of man kind to be on the surface of it. A flag does indeed show control, but it can also show its control whereas being independent is a trait of being in control. It also shows that we control a certain area. Politicians wear the flag pins of their country to represent on behalf who they are speaking for. Sometimes many different spokesmen from different countries will meet and debate and sometimes there are people who stand out and say something more important than someone else and the flag that they wear will probably be rewarded with a better reputation, maybe taking us away from war or might be causing jealousy.
